I want to encourage you, Christian, because our walk with Christ is often like this. We have visions of growing by leaps and bounds, but in reality, it’s usually a slow process. When considering how you’ve grown as a Christian, look at the long-term picture. How have you grown closer to God in the past year? How has the Holy Spirit changed you over the past five years? How have you matured in your Christian life over the past decade? Look back at who you were in high school. My—how far you have come!
This takes place in small, daily increments. It may not be visible all the time, and there might even be stretches where we aren’t moving in the right direction, but overall, if we’re regular to spend time with God and participate in the work of his church, we will find that we mature as a believer quite a bit.
Remember this to help you have patience both with yourself and with others. The people around you are going through their own growing pains, and may develop at a different rate, much like our little baby won’t develop exactly the same way as any other baby.
