It got me to thinking that tuning a piano is not unlike tuning our lives. Being a human being is a complex thing as well! We have our physical bodies that we must maintain with food, water, exercise, and rest. But beyond the physical, we also have mental, emotional, and spiritual lives that must be also “tuned” together so that we can work at our full potentials. If any part gets out of whack, our whole lives sound a little sour, like a piano with a note out of tune.
Do you take adequate care to make sure your mental, emotional, and spiritual lives are in order? If not, they’ll gradually fall into disrepair and we might not even notice it until it’s gotten really bad. That’s why it’s important to regularly tune our lives by making sure we have enough down time to read scripture, pray, and meditate upon what God is telling us. As I’ve had piano tuners in the past tell me, a little maintenance can save a whole lot of repair later!
