I was pleased to see that the program ended with a reading of Luke’s account of Jesus’ birth. A high school student read the story while young children came up on stage dressed as Mary, Joseph, angels, shepherds, wise men, and various animals. The story never grows old, and it’s fun to see the young ones dressed up.
As good as it is to see this done at a school, the responsibility of teaching our Christian heritage, beliefs, and traditions really comes down to our families. Let’s make sure that we leave no doubt in our children & grandchildren’s minds what Christmas is REALLY about. Jesus’ birth is not just a part of Christmas, it is the central theme. Teach it at home and help them see the importance of regularly being at church to learn more and celebrate with other believers.
