This simple statement is what Jesus said to the women on the first Easter morning. He didn’t give them some long theological treatise about what it meant that He had risen from the dead. He simply made it clear that it was indeed Him, Jesus Christ, who was standing before them.
After the greeting, the only thing He told them to do in that moment was “Do not be afraid. Go and tell…”. Can you imagine that moment? How excited were these women? They had been hopeless, now they had hope, because Jesus, the one in whom all hope is found, was dead...but now He’s alive!
I don’t think these women had to say much as they testified of Jesus’ resurrection. The joy in their eyes and the simple statement that Jesus is alive was enough. This Easter, let me challenge you to do the same. Allow the joy to shine through your face, tell the simple truth that Jesus is alive, and simply let the truth of this live out in your lives so that those around you can see it.
You don’t have to have all of the answers. You don’t have to be able to explain every detail. Yes, strive to keep learning, but as you’re learning, let the simple truth of Jesus living in you be a testimony to those around you. When Jesus shines through us, it makes a difference, people will notice, and lives can be changed.
