When do we see Jesus get upset? He got upset with Pharisees, who were supposed to be the religious leaders of the day, because they were teaching the wrong things and missing the Spirit of God’s law. He also got upset at the moneychangers in the temple because they were extorting people who were trying to worship. In both cases, he was angry because God’s truth was being distorted and misused, and in both cases, he acted quickly and decisively.
Just as notable are the times Jesus DIDN’T get upset. What did he do about the oppressive Roman government? He calmly told his disciples to pay their taxes, and then continued teaching the gospel. What about when he was falsely accused in the courts? He remained silent, as he knew his upcoming death was part of God’s plan.
Just like Jesus, we must choose our battles carefully. Does something misrepresent God or teach a false gospel? Let’s get angry and do something about it. If it does not, our energy is best spent elsewhere. If that’s the case, share your concerns with him in prayer, and ask him to bring you peace and help you focus upon furthering the Kingdom.
