I think this idea is one we should strive for. We should know and understand God’s Word in such a full, deep way, that our minds are constantly thinking about it, and when situations arise, our hearts, minds, and mouths can’t help but express truths from scripture. Yes, Jesus has a significant advantage on us since He is the author of scripture, but we can certainly strive to be like Him in this area.
This could very well be part of what the psalmist was talking about in Psalm 119:111 when he said, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Hiding God’s Word in your heart is more than reciting a memory verse, but integrating it so deeply into your life that it changes you. We begin to process the world around us through the lens of scripture, and we can better see and understand what God is doing around us. This is the type of life that can make a difference in the world today!
