One thing we do is provide one-time help for people needing additional food or assistance with a rent or utility bill. When we help someone, we not only work to meet their physical need, but take time to talk and pray with most of them. A benefit of doing this through the Alliance is that we can communicate with other churches to coordinate the type of help we give people. This allows us to keep an eye out for people who are trying to “work the system” by going around town to each church, but more importantly, it allows us all to have a more accurate feel of what the needs in our community are so we can serve people better.
Another thing we’re able to do is to help point people to different existing ministries and services. We can point people towards the Food Bank and Food Pantry. We can make sure people know about the Country Store, Clothes Closet, and No Need for Need. We can let them know about rides through Double Mountain Coach. If there are other needs a family has, we can help each other find answers.
Would you pray for the Ministerial Alliance? Pray that we are wise in our decision making. Pray that our churches continue to celebrate what unites us instead of focusing upon what might separate us. Pray that we would have increased opportunities and ability to minister to our community together.
