I like to think that our teams made a difference for the churches we served. I know of a few people who came to Christ in those summers, and people were appreciative that we were there. But the real change, I think, was the way these trips changed me. Getting out of my comfort zone and doing something to serve others really shaped me as a person, and gave me the experience and confidence to eventually step out into church ministry.
I challenge you to find a way to step out of your comfort zone and serve others. It doesn’t need to be a 10-week trip several hours away, but it can start with something small, like helping distribute food for the food bank this Tuesday. It’s a simple thing, but it can make a difference to so many people, including those who serve.
I’d love to hear stories from you about how God worked in you when you served others! That would make a great testimony!
