Last Sunday afternoon, the nominating committee met. The purpose of the nominating committee is to help people connect their gifts and abilities with the needs of the church by forming committees. Many of you are already serving God through a church committee, and your work is much appreciated! If you’re not already serving, you may be approached by a member of the nominating committee asking if you’d be willing to serve in a particular area—or maybe they’ve already talked to you! Please don’t see this as pressure—if it doesn’t fit your interests, your gifts, and your available time, then there’s no shame in declining to serve in a particular area.
For those that do agree to serve on a committee, thank you for being willing to serve! But, even better than saying “yes” when asked is volunteering before you’re asked! You don’t have to wait for someone to come to you—if God has placed upon your heart a way to serve Him through the church, talk to me or one of the deacons and we’ll help you get started. If you want to serve but aren’t sure how, come talk to me and we can work together to find a way you can serve that fits how God made you!
1 Corinthians 12:12 says, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” As the church, we are the body of Christ in the world today. We’re all at our best when we’re doing our part!
