One of the ways we’ll be doing this is by supporting two missions: one local and one international. The Pregnancy Care Center of the Southern Big Country is located in Haskell and serves mothers throughout several local counties. First, they encourage mothers to choose to give birth to their child instead of aborting him or her. Once they do that, they support and encourage all along the way by providing education, supplies, and whatever is needed. Even through the child’s first few years, they continue to help the mother learn how to be a parent and make sure she has what she needs. If a mother decides it is better for her to give a child for adoption, the Pregnancy Care Center also guides the mother through that process. If you’d like to support this mission, there is a giant baby bottle on the entryway table where you can place your coins, bills, or checks made out to the Pregnancy Care Center.
The second way we’ll be honoring the sanctity of human life is by purchasing shoes for gypsy children in Romania. The gypsies are considered second-class citizens in Romania and often do not have basic necessities. First Baptist Weinert has been working with this people group for a few years and has asked the Double Mountain Baptist Association if we would be willing to help supply shoes for them. If you’d be willing to help support this mission, please mark your check or envelope “DMBA shoes” and place it in the offering plate.
Thanks for honoring God by loving the people that He loves!
