Vacations are valuable times in our lives. Whether we take a big trip, or stay quietly at home and enjoy the peace and quiet, vacations are times to rejuvenate, experience new things, spend time with loved ones, and get away from the busyness of life. Without some sort of vacation, it would be easy to burn out.
We all understand the importance of needing vacations from time to time to help us recover and rejuvenate, but how about an opportunity for our spirit to rejuvenate? We don’t need to wait a year for the next vacation, we can take some time regularly to “get away from it all” in a spiritual sense. This could come in many forms, but like a vacation, it involves getting away from the daily hustle and bustle, finding peace and quiet, and spending time with our greatest loved one—Jesus.
When’s the last time you turned everything else off and just spent time with Jesus? Psalm 62:1 says “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.“ Nothing is so important that we cannot put it aside for a while to rejuvenate our souls with a time of prayer, worship, and peace with God. This means not thinking about work, not planning out next week’s meals, and not even preparing for next week’s Bible study—just resting in God’s presence. It’ll do your soul good.
