As students gather to pray this week, let me encourage the rest of us to join them. You don’t have to go to the school to do so, either. Take some time during your day this Wednesday to pray for the schools. Pray that He would embolden his followers to stand up for Christ. Pray that He would allow his followers to show his love in all that they do. Pray that students would be safe from evil and harm. Pray that teachers would be ready and able to help students in need.
There’s no shortage of ways to pray for our schools. We know how important a time it is in the lives of these young people, and we know how many challenges students and teachers both have had as our world changes and turns further from God. Let me put something before you—we are quick to complain about what’s going on in American schools today, but are we as quick to turn to God with a prayer for the schools? I can only imagine if God’s people spent as much time in prayer as they did complaining that this world would be quite the different place…
After praying, if you still find yourself heavily burdened for our children today, perhaps God is calling you to more action? Is there a way you can volunteer at the school? Run for the school board? Encourage our teachers? Show support to our students? What actions would God have you take to be a part of the solution?
