If your family is big enough and busy enough, you eventually come to a point where you realize you can’t do it all. There has to be something in your life that gives, because there’s still only 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week.
I encourage you this year to be intentional with your time. If we’re not careful, we sort of fall into a pattern of life where we feel like we’re only reacting to emergencies and always worn out. You can have more control than this. Make the effort now to consider what is most important to you and how you’ll make decisions about your time. I won’t pretend to know what that looks like in your family, but I will point you to a few questions to consider as you work it out:
· What impact do our activities have on our family’s spiritual health?
· What do the choices we are making teach our children about what’s most important?
· What are we missing out on by adding on one more activity—Rest? Family meals? Bible study or prayer time?
As the saying goes, sometimes less is more. You DO have the choice. “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.” Psalm 62:5
