One of the many things that Kim is good at is keeping a photo and video record of Grace’s life. We were looking back the other day at a short video Kim had taken about a year ago that showed Grace “talking” to Kim. I put “talking” in quotes, because it was only understandable to someone who had been around Grace a lot, and then only after a few tries to guess what she was trying to say! Now, a year later, Grace is speaking very clearly and usually has quite a bit to say—at least when she’s at home with me and Kim! There has been a lot of learning going on in the past year.
Speaking of growing in the past year, how much have you grown? No, I’m not talking about those extra pounds some of us have put on from eating church potlucks, I’m talking about spiritual growth. Can you see a change in your life since last year? Have you grown closer to Christ? Has your understanding of His Word and His will for you improved? Do you see a difference in the way you show love to God and others? As long as we’re on this earth, we should be learning and growing.
As you pastor, it’s one of my goals to help this be true in your life, and I’m regularly thinking of how to assist you in this, but the bottom line is that you have to want it. You have to take the things we learn at church and add to it your own study, your own prayer, and your own practices. Make it a goal now that you can look back at this point next year and see a noticeable spiritual growth in your life!
