We remember today the brave men and women who believed in this concept of religious freedom and devoted their entire lives to its pursuit. Let us never take for granted the struggle it was to regain this inherent human right.
But, even as we remember and celebrate these things, let us just as clearly remember that it is still Almighty God that we worship. He is the only one worthy of our praise. He is the only one who is perfect in all of His ways. He is the only one able to give us the ultimate freedom for our souls. Neither our country, our forefathers, nor the brave men and women of our armed services are worthy of the praise our Father is due.
Whatever the future may hold for our country, we can be sure as followers of Christ what our ultimate future will hold. America, along with everything else on our world will pass away, but our home in heaven is eternal. Let us make sure we always place that truth in higher esteem than any earthly treasure.
