That’s an important message for children, but it’s every bit as important for adults to remember. If we’re not careful, we start taking our cues from other sources. There are some common ways this happens:
· We start trusting what we feel more than God’s Word
· We listen first to our preferred politician or analyst
· We take the word of a preacher without testing it against the Bible
· We let our circumstances tell us what is going on even if God’s Word says otherwise
· We let our own logic and understanding prevail instead of seeking God’s truth
· We get our understanding of the Bible only from bumper stickers and memes
There are lots of other ways this happens, and it’s quite an insidious trick from our adversary. He knows He can’t make us outright deny Christ, but he can gradually distract us and pull us away from God’s intentions for us by causing us to drift away from God’s Word and look for the truth in other places. Brothers and sisters, let’s stay alert and focused upon God’s Word. It will never lead us astray!
