If Easter is about one thing, it is about hope. When Jesus was dead in the ground and it seemed all was lost, He rose again to give us hope. When we were dead in our sins, Jesus paid the price for our sins and gave us hope. When it seemed the enemy had won, Jesus gave us hope by conquering death! We are never without hope!
This is why it’s confusing to me when I see Christians act in a pessimistic or defeatist sort of way. You know what I’m talking about—this is the person who always has a problem to talk about and everything is always terrible? I’m not saying everyone should be happy-go-lucky and ignore problems and challenges, but we serve the God who created the universe out of nothing. We serve the God who defeated death!
To me, that means we can have hope in every situation, from the smallest to the largest. Whether it’s allergies that won’t go away, a relationship that’s struggling, or a country that’s abandoned many of the values it was founded upon, our Heavenly Father, our Savior, our closest Friend is not unaware of these situations. He will see you through each and every one of them. Maybe He’ll resolve it in a way we would choose and maybe not, but He will always walk with us through it. He will always work His purposes in the midst of it.
My challenge to you is to practice looking at the Savior more than you look at the problem. Yes, acknowledge the problem and do what is reasonable to address it, but all along, remember God’s faithfulness and His limitless power. As you wrestle with the challenges of life, let God encourage you with the eternal hope He offers to His children!
