Our opinions, regardless of whether they are based up on the truth of God’s Word or not, affect the way we live our lives. Or, to put it another way, what we believe has an impact on what we do. The more we believe the truth about who God is, the more we can live our lives confident in His love, mercy, and grace. The same is true of the opposite, however. The more we come up with our own distorted views of who God is, the more we’ll try to live up to what we think He wants of us.
The problem is that most of us are pretty bad at challenging our own beliefs. Once we believe something, we tend to always believe that same thing. When is the last time you’ve read God’s Word and admitted that you previously had an incorrect understanding of something? If we’re not willing to do this, we’re not able to grow and become more mature Christians, as we’ll always have the same faith we had when we were young people.
As we go through this study of the attributes of God, I hope we can all grow together and sharpen our understanding of who God is and come to know Him in a more personal, accurate way.
