We enjoy getting together with friends and family, watch kids enjoy the holidays, and reminisce about years gone by. But for some, the season that is celebrated above all others brings difficult emotions. Perhaps it’s a painful reminder that a certain loved one isn’t with us anymore for the celebration. Maybe strained relationships in your family make get-togethers a stressful time instead of a joyous one. For others, it’s a sad time as they are not able to provide the types of gifts or celebrations they would like for their loved ones.
Whether you are approaching this holiday season with eager anticipation, with dread, or something in between, it’s certainly an emotional time. You know who gave us emotions? God did, and He gives us help in His word on how we can deal with those emotions—good, bad, or otherwise. The sermons for the next four weeks will look at different emotions and how the writers of the Psalms expressed and dealt with their emotions.
Some people wear their emotions on their sleeves and others show little or no emotion at all, but we all have them. What does God want us to do with them? Stay tuned for the next four weeks to find out!
